Smart thermal heads – Netatmo, Siemens, Shelly:

Netatmo

Innovators from Netatmo offer solutions for temperature management in individual rooms by means of Smart thermal heads - NAV-EN.

NAV-EN thermal heads require a pre-installed brand's starter pack (NVP-EN), which contains the Gateway and 2 Smart thermal heads, or Netatmo's Smart Thermostat (NTH01ENEU, which acts as a gateway). The thermo heads are also compatible to work with Bticino and Legrand Smarther 2 thermostats. Depending on the installation of your heater, as well as the space you have available, thermal heads can be installed vertically or horizontally. The two sensors built into the article allow the ambient temperature to be measured continuously and the values to be displayed in real time.

One thermal head with 6 adapters is included in the NAV-E kit, thanks to which Netatmo thermal heads are compatible with 90% of radiators on the market. The Netatmo system allows up to 20 thermal heads to one Gateway, in up to 10 rooms.

Thermal heads are managed:

• - from place (manual);
• - remotely (through the Netatmo Energy or Home + Control by Legrand applications). It is necessary that the device you will use to control the thermal heads supports at least versions: iOS 9.1 for iPhone, iPad, iPod or Android 5.0;
• - by voice, using a voice assistant (Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant).

Netatmo's Smart solution allows you to create daily schedules to heat in certain time ranges room by room, as well as save more thanks to "Open window", "Prolonged absence", "Freeze protection" modes.

The Netatmo product management application - Netatmo Energy or Home + Control, is free and can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store. A good Wi-Fi connection is required for the products to function correctly. They do not connect to public Wi-Fi networks.

Siemens:

The Siemens portfolio also offers a Smart thermal head for radiators - SSA911.01ZB.

The brand's professionals develop the Connected Home system, which also includes their Smart thermal head, to facilitate our daily and routine activities. The system is oriented towards reducing energy use, which in turn leads to lower energy costs, as well as a greener and more sustainable future.

The control of the Smart head is carried out manually - from a place, or by a Smart device (smartphone, tablet...) on which the Siemens Connected Home application is installed. Again, installation of Gateway is required which is a separate product - GTW100ZB. The hub communicates with up to 32 Siemens Smart thermal heads using the Zigbee 3.0 radio protocol. The RCR110.2ZB boiler and boiler control relay can be added to the system, and it can act as a Zigbee extender.

The Siemens thermohead is compatible with M30 x 1.5 valves, with additional adapters included. It allows local control of the temperature in the rooms. It has a mode for operation with the window open, a mode for quick heating and child protection.

Shelly

Shelly's thermal head ensures the efficiency of the heating system you have chosen for your premises by maintaining different temperature levels depending on the time ranges of the day, as well as activating customized scenes based on time, sunrise and sunset, or different actions. Shelly TRV supports up to 5 profiles, each associated with up to 6 temperature schedules. You can create different settings for each profile, as well as control it separately from the others.

Shelly's thermal head allows connection to any Wi-Fi network, and can additionally work as an access point. You don't need a hub or other device – control the Shelly TRV directly from your smartphone with the free Shelly Cloud app. Of course, Shelly's thermal head can also be controlled manually.

Replacing a regular radiator valve with a Shelly TRV takes 5-10 minutes. Included in the package of the thermal head are 6 adapters compatible with radiators on the market, and the battery it is equipped with is charged with an adapter (not included). If you wish, you can combine the thermal head with an external Shelly H&T or Shelly Plus H&T temperature sensor, as well as a door and window sensor, which will help you optimize ventilation heating. In addition, the Shelly TRV offers "child protection", which means that you can turn off the hardware buttons on the head through the application.
